Create Nominal Bore World Form

For users who require bores, that are not included in the standard nominal values stored in the core, a facility exists for the creation of tables that hold the required values in the catalogue database.
For users who require bolt diameters and bolt lengths, these values are held in the editable bolting-defaults file supplied with the software. To create or edit the bolting-defaults file, the user must make there changes in the Bolt Diameter/Length Table and click Save Data to File.
When being switched from module to module, the catalogue database is scanned for a NBRWLD element. Purpose on NBRWLD can be set to either BLEN or BDIA depending on whether the elements are being used to store metric/imperial equivalent Bolt Lengths or Bolt Diameters. If so, the nominal bore-checking routine is switched to the user defined nominal bores.
Create a Nominal Bore World
-
Select Create, then select Bolt Diameter/Length Table from the main window drop-down.

Add bolt sizes to a specification table
Once a NBRWLD element has been created, it is possible to add bore values to a table of nominal bores. These values are recorded in NOMIMB elements.
-
After creating a Nominal Bore World, the Bolt Diameter and Length Tables window opens:

-
Use Grid Insertion Type to select the option to change between the equivalent Bolt Diameter or Bolt Length.
The effect of this will be to set the PURP attribute of the NBRWLD to BLEN or BDIA. This option will be greyed out if the Specification table is already populated with data.
-
Left click to highlight an entry in the left hand list. Select multiple entries by left clicking and dragging the mouse pointer. To remove particular highlighted entries hold down the CTRL key and left click on a bolt size.
You can:
-
Add highlighted available bolt sizes to the Specification table by clicking the Add > option.
-
Add all available bolt sizes to the Specification table by clicking the Add All >> option.
-
Remove a bolt size from the Specification table by highlighting an entry then clicking the Remove < option.
-
Remove all entries to the Specification table by clicking the Remove All << option.
-
-
To add or delete rows:
-
Select Add a Row to add a new row of data to the Specification table. New bolt specifications can be entered directly in the cells of the new row.

Select Delete a Row to delete a row from the Specification table.
-
-
(Optional) Select Save Data to File to save all of the entries in the Specification table to the bolting defaults file located in the PDMSUI environment variable cat\dflts directory.
-
(Optional) To discard changes and close the form, click Dismiss

Select Apply to apply the data input in the Specification table to the database below the NBRWLD element.
The Specification table is populated with equivalent values for millimeters and inches.
