The purpose of this chapter is to explain the file structure that is used in AVEVA Initial Design Calc.

This chapter lists the various types of files that are used for data input and for output, and the naming conventions that are used by Calc when it creates new designs.

It is no longer necessary to manually manage the storage of projects or individual designs within a project, since all initial design objects are stored and managed within the Product Information (PIM) environment.

Individual projects can be set up outside of Calc and then, within Calc, a number of designs can be created within this project. Alternatively, designs can be imported from other existing projects.

for further information on the concepts and functionality see Managing Initial Design Data.
