Activated by selecting CURVE \ ENDINGS... or clicking the Curve Endings icon, .

Used to set and create the required information for the method by which the waterline endings and frame feet are determined (see also Waterline Endings and Frame Feet in Chapter Major Tasks).

The End Type page is used to set the generation method for both the fore and aft (Stem and Stern respectively) of the vessel. The 3 methods available are Half Siding, End Surface and None (in which case the spline terminates at the profile without any constraints). Use the Apply button to set the required methods.

The HS/Radius page is used to create the Half Siding and Radius curves for either the Stem and Stern.

Create the Half Siding and Radius curves for the Stem or Stern

  1. Select Create to be prompted to read the relevant definition from a prepared file (File). Alternatively, if Manual is selected, the points defining the curves can be entered directly via the Manual Panel of the dialog, prior to clicking Create.

  2. Type in the data points for the curve into the white columns of the grid. Change the point type by clicking in the blue grid box and selecting Ordinary, Tangent or Knuckle.

  3. Points can be copied by selecting grid boxes or a whole line and then clicking the Right Mouse button and selecting Copy. Alternatively click <Ctrl-C>.

  4. Points can be pasted by selecting the grid box at which to paste and clicking the Right Mouse button and selecting Paste. Alternatively click <Ctrl-V>. Points can be copied from and pasted to other products, for example Microsoft Excel.

  5. Points can be deleted by clicking the Right Mouse button and selecting Delete.

  6. Extra lines for new points can be inserted by selecting the point at which to insert, clicking the Right Mouse button and selecting Insert.

Insert multiple lines

  • Select the number of lines you want to insert, and then select Insert from the popup menu.

A third option is available when defining the radius curve to enable the user to derive the curve from the half siding (From Half Siding).

The End Surface page is used to create the Eccentricity curve, End Surface and Transition curve for either the Stem and Stern.

Having selected the required option, click Create. For a fuller explanation on the creation of the eccentricity curve see Creating the Eccentricity Curve Note that for the transition curve you will need to digitize points in a buttock view.

The Update page is used to update any existing waterlines. Select the required waterlines from the list or use the All option (to select them all) and click Apply. If the Accept option is not selected, the modified waterlines will only be displayed and not stored. If the Move Points option is selected, points associated with the waterline are modified such that, if fitted, the resultant curve will approximate the updated waterline.
