Modelling of the Propeller - Handling

  • Last UpdatedDec 18, 2025
  • 2 minute read

The method developed by Oosterveld and others, References 1 and 2, has been used to model the propeller performance for a naval vessel. The method is semi-empirical and based on the model test results of the B-screw series. The thrust coefficient is expressed as a polynomial function of the advance ratio , pitch ratio , blade area ratio and the number of blades . (where Va is the advance speed, n is the propeller rev/min, P is the propeller pitch and D is the propeller diameter).
