Introduction to Project Material

Raw material, used when nesting plates or profiles, are defined in the catalogue. These catalogue entities contain all the necessary properties to fully describe the material but it does not cover the actual number of materials. Number of raw plates or profiles in the catalogue are considered to be infinite.

An integration with a material system in general and specifically AVEVA Marine requires a project setup with the use of project material. Project material is referencing the catalogue entity and keeps track of the individual instance of raw material. Furthermore, it can keep an individual ERM identification per plate or profile. The setup to integrate AVEVA Marine with AVEVA ERM is described in AVEVA Marine - ERM Integration User Guide.

Project material is stored in the manufacturing database and all materials are assigned to units (normally manufacturing blocks) or to a project pool. If project materials are used, then it has to be done for the complete project. It is not possible to mix, having project material for some production blocks and only catalogue selection when creating production information for other blocks.
