On establishing a new Hydro design, within a AVEVA Marine project, a Hydrostatics data file (CALC) is created within the project.

The hull plus compartmentation geometry model is input from a Calculation Geometry design (an XML file), or from a facet file (FCT), GDS or other supported calculation geometry data file. Once imported into the design, the geometry model is copied and becomes embedded in the CALC file and the original geometry data file is no longer required for the pursuance of the particular design.

However, if the Calculation Geometry is released once more, for example by AVEVA Initial Design Surface/Compartment, then the Hydro User is prompted, upon opening this design, to update the Calculation Geometry within Hydro. Thus, updates to the main hull envelope, etc, made within Surface/Compartment, may be automatically updated within Hydro.
