-
Create a new node under the Ship node in the Application Tree. Select Grain Calibrations from the dialog. A new folder node is created.

New Calculation dialog.
-
Edit this new node, and select the compartments that are used to carry grain.

Grain Calibration Folder dialog - Compartments Tab.
-
Set up data that will be common to all holds, for example, coaming height, cargo heights, filled hold options, , and select OK. This will generate a calculation node for each grain compartment.

Grain Calibration Folder dialog - Default Data Tab.

Grain Calibration Folder dialog - Hatch and girders Tab.
Girders can be added and deleted using the Add and Delete buttons. Note that the Depth must be given in mm (inches). If the Position is given as 1000, then the girder will be positioned at the starboard hatch side. Similarly, -1000, means the port hatch side. Otherwise the distance is from the centerline, negative to port and positive to starboard.
-
Edit each grain compartment node to change any data that is specific to the compartment.

Select hold from the tree.

Grain Calibrations dialog - Filled Hold Tab.
-
Select any 'tween deck from the list. (Only decks that span the compartment, will be listed.)
-
Check that the sections are properly defined, by exporting them as a Britfair (bri) file, and viewing/editing them in Digit. When the sections are deemed to be OK, they can be read back into Calc from the same dialog page.
Important:
It is very important to have properly defined sections, otherwise the results will be inaccurate.
Use Digit to check the sections.
-
Perform the calculations. This will generate grain calibration tables for each hold, and details of filled hold calculations, including diagrams showing the voids and level of the grain when shifted.
As an alternative to performing the filled hold calculations in Calc, the filled hold grain moments can be given by you. you Specified Moments: box should be checked and appropriate values given for the trimmed, untrimmed moments and the untrimmed void.
