Smooth rendered display mode

The smooth rendered display simply shows the surface as if it were covered with a glossy paint. This display mode is selected using DISPLAY \ PATCH \ SHADED or … . A light source, imagined as positioned roughly where the user's face is, caused reflections and shadows that highlight irregularities, particularly whilst rotating the surface in an oblique view window. Different colours should be used for the outside and inside of the surface; these can be set in the Surface (front) and Surface (back) row of the Colours grid in the data bar. Stronger, more saturated colours cause more distinct highlights, making irregularities easier to spot (see Figure 3:120 below).
