The function Hull Tools>Hull Text is used to create or modify a hull text and finally store it in the database. The main menu of the function with its different options is explained below:

Key in

Key in the hull text characters from the keyboard. The following dialog will appear when this option is selected:

The different source types to select from are TrueType font, symbol font or settings drawing. In case a settings drawing is selected, each given character will be represented by the view having the ASCII character number as its name.

By symbol

Characters/symbols can be picked one by one in the table in the dialog. Alternatively, geometry from a drawing or sub-picture (or the entire drawing/sub-picture) can be used as source for each character/symbol. The following dialog will appear when this option is selected from the main menu:

Height

Height of one or all characters/symbols of the hull text.

Width

Width of one or all characters/symbols of the hull text.

Ratio

Turns on or off locking of the ratio between character/symbol width/height.

Direction

Text direction, either set as horizontal or vertical.

Adjust

Adjustment of spacing between adjacent characters. The spacing can be controlled per character or for the complete text. The figure below illustrates the character spacing concept.

Create Welds

Used for controlling details of the weld trace. This is valid only for a hull mark created as weld in the dialog of the Project function. The following menu presents the weld options:

Put Weld: Select start and end points of this trace.

Remove Weld: Remove weld.

Set Weld Pattern: Create a pattern for the weld. The figure below shows a few examples.

Default

Default values can be set for plate thickness, bead width and bead height.

Store

Stores the hull text in the database.
