Weight Analysis

This dialog allows you to perform a preliminary weight and centre of gravity analysis on the envelope and any internals, by specifying the thickness and density of each element. The surface area of each surface within a User specified zone is automatically calculated so that the weight and centre of gravity (given in terms of LCG, TCG and VCG) of each individual element can be computed. In addition added weight due to brackets and stiffeners can be added as a percentage of the element weight and added weight for accommodation can be added as a weight/area factor.
Note:
All elements are shown in the analysis tool, to switch items off use the release to
calculation column to control which items to include.
The dialog is used for preparing weight items to be released to the calculation geometry. To add an item check the box in the column labelled Calc Release. It is also possible to transfer modelled weights instead of the estimated values calculated in this function. To select which of the two values to use, define a percentage in the column Area ratio limits, weights from WCOG. This defines how much of the total surface has to be structurally modelled before the actual modelled weight is used instead of the estimated weight.
The total weight is then automatically computed.
Note:
Default values for thickness, density and added weights for the envelope and each
type of internal surface can be set from the Internals tab of the Options dialog.
These values are used when the envelope of internal is first created, but values can
then be changed via this grid control.
