Ratio calculations may be performed to produce a set of resistance ratios for use with similar designs (see Resistance Ratios for further details).

By completing the data in the following property pages, and performing the calculation, a data file is produced, containing ratios between the model test values and each of the available prediction methods.

These ratios may then be incorporated into subsequent powering predictions, by checking the Use Ratios box(es) and specifying the ratio file in the Ratios Filename cell of the Powering Data - Resistance and Propulsion page of the Powering calculations node.

By selecting a method which is most appropriate to the vessel under consideration, and which has the most consistent ratios (that is, close to 1.0), the model test values themselves can therefore be incorporated into the powering calculations directly.
