Explicit Position Window

Use the Explicit Position window to move an element from its current position to an explicitly defined position.

You must first select the element to be positioned in the design explorer or in the 3D graphical view, from the main menu bar, click Position > Explicitly (AT). The Explicit Position window is displayed.

Explicitly Defined Position

A datum (a point to move relative to) must now be set, from the Datum drop-down menu click to identify the datum.

Origin

Click to identify the origin (0,0,0) of the CE as the datum.

P-Point

Click to identify the P-Point of the CE as the datum, for further information on P-Points, refer to Getting Started with Plant.

Designate Position

The user is prompted to Designate reference point (Snap) Snap: in the 3D graphical view.

Note:
The options available in the drop down list, are dependent upon the element selected as the CE.

Once the datum has been selected, it is displayed in the 3D graphical view, you can now define the position explicitly:

The position (co-ords) must now be set:

East

From the drop down menu:

Click to identify direction of the X axis.

Input the East co-ordinate.

North

From the drop down menu:

Click to identify the direction of the Y axis.

Input the West co-ordinate.

Down

From the drop down menu:

Click to identify the direction of the Z axis.

Input the Up co-ordinate.

Note:
X (East), Y (North), Z (Up), -X (negative East), -Y (negative North) or -Z (Negative Up).

If required, select one or all of the Lock check boxes to fix the current co-ordinate along the X, Y or Z axis.

If required, the axes to which all co-ordinates are interpreted with respect to must now be set.

If required, in the wrt box, input the name of the element to which all co-ordinates are interpreted with respect to.

The default is /*, refer to Explicit Position Icon, if this is not the case, input the name of the required element.

Click Apply, the selected item is moved to its new position, to explicitly position another item, click to choose from the Select drop-down list:

CE

Click to identify the required element in the design explorer as the CE (the item to be positioned).

Owner

Click to identify the required element in the design explorer as the Owner (the item to be positioned).

Pick

Click to identify the required element as the CE in the 3D graphical view when prompted (the item to be positioned).

Pick Owner

Click to identify the required owner element as the CE in the 3D graphical view when prompted (the item to be positioned).

Note:
Settings is a system admin option.
