Hull and Outfitting

Generating a Surface

When a ship has been faired to an acceptable level, the design can be patched to allow the vessel to be described by a surface. This surface can then be released for use in other AVEVA Marine modules such as Surface/Compartment, Structural Design and Hull. Patches can also be output in IGES 128 (B-spline surface) and VRML forms.

There are two methods of generating a surface. The recommended method is to use the Patch and Curve Editor (PACE) to semi-automatically generate the surface and then interactively assess and manipulate it (see Generating a Surface using PACE). The second method is to use the Surface Patches dialog to manually generate individual patches which will define the surface (see Generating a Surface Manually).
