Hydrostatics

After the geometry from Surface is used in Calc, there are a number of things that must be done, as follows:

1. Modify the MODU criteria set using the Edit Criteria command, change the wind moment to "MODU wind heeling" and enter the wind speed in knots and air density.

2. Edit Ship Particulars and select the MODU criteria set.

3. Edit the Tank Plan node and on the Compartments page, enter the Shape Factor for each Sail element in the Structural Permeability column. Note that the shape factor is given as a multiplier, NOT a percentage.

4. Now when Loading Conditions or Deterministic is run, the heeling moment will be calculated for each angle of heel, using the "Sail". The criteria will be evaluated and reported in the normal way.
