Probabilistic page
The drop down list is used to select either the SOLAS 1992 cargo ship or the A.265 Passenger ship, or the new SOLAS Harmonized rules.
The compartment standard is the maximum number of adjacent zones that can be damaged in the Probabilistic stability assessment. The lifeboat capacity and number of persons in excess of the lifeboat capacity, are used in setting the required index for the Passenger Ship A.265 Rules and the SOLAS Harmonized Regulations. Other data will probably form part of the new combined probabilistic rules, but are not currently used.
Surfaces page
This page is used to select the bulkheads and decks that form the zone boundaries for probabilistic stability. If the ship is symmetrical, it is not necessary to include longitudinal bulkheads on the port side (-ve y value).
It also allows you to rename any internal surfaces that have been imported into the Calc project.
Note:
Decks below the waterline should not be selected for the Cargo Ship Rules. Also decks
are not considered at all in the Passenger Ship Rules.
Compartment Extents page
This page displays the physical extents of the compartments. This information is used in automatically setting up damaged scenarios, especially for Probabilistic Stability. If the geometry has been input using facet data from Surface/Compartment, then these extents should be accurate and need not be altered unless a compartment, for example, extends over several zones and its extends may cause it to be incorrectly selected in particular zones. If, however, a GDS file was used, then wing, and merged compartments, should be checked to ensure that they have the correct extents, otherwise the automatic generation of damage cases may not be reliable.
Permeabilities page
Some Probabilistic Rules require different damage permeabilities for different loading conditions. These should be entered on this page as percentages.
The program will automatically setup the different loading conditions in the dialog. Initially all the permeabilities will be set to the normal damaged permeability from the Compartments page of the Tankplan dialog.
