Hull and Outfitting

VLACKENBY

Purpose

To alter the distribution of vessel waterlines, thus altering the volume and vertical centre of volume (buoyancy).

Syntax

VLACKENBY < DRAFT > $N < TRIM > $N < VOLUME > $N
                < VCB > $N < ZLOWER > $N < ZUPPER > $N
             < TOLERANCE > $N </REFIT >

Description

Having imported a set of curves from a Lines datastore, or created curves using Surface intersections, the distribution of these curves can be modified to alter the volume and centre of volume.

This form of scaling may be performed over the entire range of waterlines, or may be restricted to a single region. This is accommodated by the ZLOWER and ZUPPER values.

A surface may be re-fitted to the scaled curves automatically by using the /REFIT option.

Command Qualifiers

DRAFT $N

The draft at which the calculations are to be performed.

TRIM $N

The trim at which the calculations are to be performed.

VOLUME $N

The required volume of displacement.

VCB $N

The required vertical centre of buoyancy.

ZLOWER $N

The lowest z-value over which curves are to be modified.

ZUPPER $N

The highest z-value over which curves are to be modified.

TOLERANCE $N

An internal tolerance (normally 0.0001).

/REFIT

Option to automatically refit a surface after the scaling.
