Selection of Projection Views

The views to be used for the Cline projections should be chosen by the user based on experience. As a guide to which views to use, the following practices should normally be followed.

If the user wants to retain the original section view shape of the Pline, then one of the projection views must be Section and this view should not be modified. In this case the other projection view should be the view that has the greater amount of curvature.

If for increasing X values of a 3D curve, either the Y or Z values increase to a maximum then decrease, the following should be noted, else the curves will not merge correctly after fairing. If both the Y and Z values increase and decrease, the curve can only be projected into buttock and waterline views. If only the Z values increase and decrease then the curve can be projected into section and waterline or into waterline and buttock. If only the Y values increase and decrease then the curve may be projected into section and buttock or waterline and buttock.

The method used to project 3D curves is based upon the parameterization and knot set of the spline and not the data points, therefore the resulting Clines do not have any data points associated with them.
