The Structure Copy / Mirror window allows you to define the position and orientation of the Mirror Plane and has options for the selection of the element(s) to be mirrored or mirror copied.
To access the Structure Copy/Mirror window
-
Click Copy / Mirror structures on the SteelWork Utilities toolbar.

-
To mirror or mirror copy an element or elements you must firstly set the position and orientation of the Mirror Plane which can be achieved in several ways.
-
To position the Mirror Plane at the origin of the CE, you must select Set Origin to CE.

The Structure Copy / Mirror window updates to display the new Plane Origin position.
Note: To disable (lock) the plane origin of the structure, check the required X, Y, Z checkbox.

-
The Mirror Plane position can also be set using either of the three options, direction, position or plane in conjunction with the graphical Pick.

-
direction — Sets the Mirror Plane to the Z(W) direction of the picked element but does not move the position of the Mirror Plane.
-
position — Moves the Mirror Plane to the selected position, but does not alter the Mirror Plane direction.
-
plane — Positions the Mirror Plane, and set the direction to Z(W) of the picked element.
The Structure Copy / Mirror window updates to display the new Plane Origin position. The values displayed can be modified as required.
-
-
-
To set the position and direction explicitly, enter values directly in the Plane Origin and Mirror Direction boxes.
Note: Values are updated when you define the Mirror Plane position and direction by other means.
-
After setting the Mirror Plane position and direction, you can decide which option to use for determining which element(s) is to be mirrored.
-
— Mirrors the current element.
-
— Mirrors the selected elements.
-
— Mirror with owner structure.
-
-
Leaving the Copy Element checkbox clear allows you to mirror the selected element(s) only.

-
The selection of the Copy Element checkbox allows you to mirror and copy the selected element(s).

-
If the beta angle of the CE to be mirrored is not zero, then the beta angle must be changed after it has been mirrored.

-
Use NA dir. to calculate the beta angle, mirror element with Mirror Plane option, change the angle if required.
