The Order Tab is used to change the order in which patches are generated and fitted. Patches generated by the Patch and Curve Editor cannot be reordered. Their topology is automatically generated.
The order in which patches are generated (and fitted) is important in determining the direction of tangential continuity between patches. As described in Patching, patches in the FOS and FOB region must be created first. Similarly other flat areas should be fitted before general curved patches are fitted. If this procedure is not followed, a flat patch may be distorted when tangent continuity is set to a curved patch.
Patches are fitted in the order in which they were originally generated. Thus, if the correct procedure was not followed, or the patch configuration has had to be changed and new patches generated in the FOS or FOB regions, then the FOS and FOB regions may no longer be truly flat.
Patches can be reorganized manually, interactively or automatically.
