Right-Click Menu Options

The following menu is opened by right-clicking on an element in either explorer:

The menu consists of the following options:

New

Opens a sub-menu from which a new element can be created. The sub-menu consists of element types which can be members of the currently selected element.

New elements are created without a name. They are given a default identifier in the explorer consisting of the element type suffixed with a sequential numbers, for example, ":EQUITAG 1". Use the Rename option to give a new element a name.

Rename

Used to rename the current element. Displays the Name window:

Enter a new name in the Name field.

Use the drop-down list to select the type of renaming operation:

  • The Only option is used to rename the selected element only.

  • The Re-name all option is used to rename the entire hierarchy below the selected element.

  • The Un-name option is used to remove the name from an element. Unnamed elements are given a default identifier in the explorer consisting of the element type suffixed with a sequential numbers, for example, ":EQUITAG 1".

If the current element has changed since the window was opened, the window does not automatically reflect this. Click the CE button if the current element is to be renamed. The Name field then changes to display the name of the current element.

Delete

Used to delete the current element. A warning message will be displayed requesting that the deletion be confirmed.

If the current element has members below it in the hierarchy, they will also be deleted.

New Explorer

Opens a sub-menu from which another Explorer window can be opened, either displaying the current element and its members, or the owner element of the current element and its members.

Cut

Standard options for cutting, copying and pasting elements.

When an element is copied or cut, its members are also copied/cut.

The paste option pastes cut/copied elements as members of the element currently selected in the hierarchy. If the current element cannot have the cut/copied elements as members, the paste option will be disabled.

Copied elements will be given a default name consisting of the name of the copied element suffixed with "copy-of-".

In addition to the common options above, the following options are available on the right-click menu in the Engineering explorer:

Claim

Used to claim elements to local claims. See Claim Elements to Local Claims for further information.

Release

Used to release elements from local claims. See Release Elements from Local Claims for further information.

Flush

Used to update parent extracts/databases with changes made to extracted elements. See Flush Extracts for further information.

Issue

Used to issue changes made to extracted elements to their parent extract/database and to release those elements. See Issue Extracts for further information.

Drop

Used to undo all changes made to extracted element and to release those extracts. See Drop Extracts for further information.
