Hull Production Program Interface

The Hull data bank is the central depository for hull information and as such the source of hull related production information. This means that there are several different functions/modules that extract information from this depository.

These functions are all very similar when looked upon from a distance and their operation can be divided into three steps:

  1. Picking of the objects in the hull data bank that the function should operate on.

  2. Initiating and performing the actual task that is the purpose of the function.

  3. Output and inspection of the result of the function.

The Production Program Interface (PPI) has been developed as a standard interface to cover the common features of the production and reporting functions within Hull. The PPI is built up of three different parts, corresponding to the three steps above:

  1. A general selection tool for data.

  2. A tool for invoking of production and reporting functions via the Job Launcher. The Job Launcher is described in a separate document, see User’s Guide Basic Features.

  3. Presentation of graphical results (drawings and receipt pictures). The PPI requires in many cases that drawing names should be generated automatically. A method to do this is supplied.

The three parts of the PPI are described in separate sections below.

The PPI is available in all the interactive Hull applications.
