Fixed Weight Dialog, (for Deadweight components).
For each weight item you specify:
-
A Name to simply help identification.
-
Its Weight (tonnes or tons).
-
Its centroid, defined by the LCG, TCG, and VCG, which are measured relative to the vessel's origin (units: meters or feet). You must provide an entry for each LCG position, however the TCG and VCG items can be given zero values. (Clearly an item that is symmetrically disposed about the vessel’s centreline will have a TCG of 0.0.)
-
A value of free surface moment, FSM, if necessary (units: tonnes/meter cubed or tons/feet cubed).
-
The Aft ext and Fwd ext, which are the extents of the item over which its weight should be spread, measured relative to the vessel's origin (units: meters or feet). As with the lightship weight distribution, fixed weight items are treated as trapezoidal items.
Note:
The LCG of a weight item should lie in the mid third of the defined length of the item. Other comments made with regards to the distribution of lightweight material also apply here. If the extent is not given, that means, both aft and fwd values are zero, then the weight item is assumed to extend over the whole length of the ship, when calculating longitudinal strength. Warning messages will be displayed, if the LCG is not within the middle third of the length, or outside the length of the ship.
A summary of the current total of the fixed weights input, the corresponding centre of gravity position, and the FSM, is displayed at the bottom of the dialog. This summary is automatically updated following each complete row of data entry.
You can make the above breakdown as refined as he wishes and itemised lengthwise segments of distributed deadweight material can overlap if necessary,
