The general format of a command is:
Command < Parameter > < Qualifier(s) >
where:

Command |
any valid application command. |

Parameter |
any valid parameter to the command. Parameters typically refer to an element type for example, Curve, Patch, Point |

Qualifier |
any valid qualifier to the command. Qualifiers typically apply some restriction to the parameter or some variation in the way the command executes. |
Commands and their parameters are always translated to UPPERCASE so the user is free to choose whichever he prefers.
