Interpolate an individual section

  • Use the Get page in the Fairing dialog.

Get an orthogonal curve to be interpolated, either a section, waterline or buttock

  • Select the appropriate option from the Curve Type panel.

The value of the section to be interpolated is entered in the Position box, in this example we will enter the value 1, then click Apply. This will get the set of points for section 1 from the design data (if they exist) which will now be the current curve.

Display the points

  • Select the section view icon from the tool bar, then display the points, prefit the spline and display the curve using the tool bar as in Importing a Boundary Curve.

To assess the fairness of a curve, Lines uses the inverse of the radius of curvature, this can be displayed as a series of tufts displayed normal to the curve (the default) or as a continuous curve.

Display the tufts

  • Select the curvature icon on the tool bar.

The curve is then accepted in the normal manner.

Switch between the tufts or continuous curve

  • Select the user parameters icon from the top icon bar and set in the Curve page.

Display the continuous curve

  • Select the display curve icon on the toolbar.
