Each internal surface has a Position which defines the location of the planar entity. The Use of the internal surface is changed via the drop down list (see Internal Surface Editor - Create Mode for an explanation of an internal's use).

The Lock to Frame Table option can be set to lock an internal surface's (transverse, longitudinal or deck) definition with relationship to the Frame Tables. for further information see Frame Table Locked Internals.

Complex Internal Surfaces

Any internal can have a more complex definition, by cranking the surface in two perpendicular planes.

The geometry of an internal is controlled by several Sheer points which in turn can have several Camber points attached. In the context of a longitudinal bulkhead, the Sheer points determine the changes longitudinally (cranking) and the Camber points control sectional changes. For a transverse bulkhead, the sheer points determine the athwartship changes and the camber points control profile changes.

The Symmetric Camber switch allows you to define Camber points describing the deck shape on only one side of the vessel. The system automatically reflects these points in the centreline to create a symmetrically cambered deck.

Two alternative methods are available for editing these complex surfaces, Interactive and Manual.

The Interactive Editing which is described more fully in Complex Geometry, and does not require the surface to appear in the list of surfaces on the dialog. This is because upon clicking Start you are prompted to select the internal surface interactively from one of the graphics windows. Following interactive editing the changes to the sheer/camber definition are applied or discarded by clicking the required button (Apply or Discard) and reselecting the internal surface.

The manual method affords manipulation of the points via the Sheer and Camber spreadsheets. Each spreadsheet has a pop-up menu with the following options: COPY, PASTE, INSERT and DELETE, to help facilitate editing. If no current points exist (or no point is selected) then the pop-up will only show INSERT (adding a new point at the beginning or end respectively). Edit the definition as required and then click the Apply button on the page to update the selected internal surfaces definition.

Note:
That when editing a complex internal surface you can only work on one at a time.
