Regular Wave Drift Coefficients

  • Last UpdatedAug 18, 2023

Default and user-supplied non-dimensional regular wave drift coefficients, which depend on wave frequency and direction , are defined by:

Longitudinal Force

Transverse Force

(74)

Yaw Moment

Default regular wave drift coefficients are given in Environmental Effects for three classes of vessel. These are given with respect to a non-dimensional frequency parameter which is given by:

(75)

Hence the frequencies , at which the regular wave drift coefficients are applicable, vary for different ship dimensions due to the dependence on the volume of displacement.
