Open Certificates Snap In

The user must first open a Certificate Snap In inside the Machine Management Console (MMC).

  1. Click Start > Run and then type Command to open a Command Prompt window.

  2. Type mmc and click the ENTER key.

    Note: To view certificates in the local machine store, the user must be logged in as an Administrator.

  3. Click File > Add/Remove Snap In.

  4. Click Add.

  5. In the Add Standalone Snap-in window, select Certificates.

  6. Click Add.

  7. In the Certificates snap-in window, select Computer account and click Next. If the user is not logged in as an Administrator, then that user can only manage certificates for the currently logged in account.

  8. In the Select Computer window leave the default selection Local computer and click Finish.

  9. In the Add Standalone Snap-in window click Close.

  10. On the Add/Remove Snap-in window click OK.

  11. In the Console Root window, click Certificates (Local Computer) to view the certificate stores for the computer.
