The administrator is responsible for the initial setup of the defaults associated with the MDS application. This document describes the defaults that can be modified by the administrator in order to configure MDS to specific project requirements.

Most of the MDS defaults are stored in a PARAGON database, and are viewed or modified using a series of forms. The remainder of the defaults are stored in four text files, in which the appropriate fields are modified in a text editor by the administrator.

Eleven default forms are provided, as follows:

  • MDS Application Defaults

  • MDS Ancillary Defaults

  • MDS Hanger Template Defaults

  • MDS Lighting Support Defaults

  • MDS Structure Defaults

  • MDS Trunnion Defaults

  • MDS ABA Loc Plan Grid Defaults

  • MDS Ancillary Selection Criteria

  • MDS Compensation Options

  • MDS Compensation Sizes

  • MDS Compensation Materials

The four text files are:

  • DES-SUPP-NAMES - holds the default auto-naming rules (additional files can be created containing different sets of rules.

  • DRA-MDS-ABA-DEFAULTS - holds the default values for MDS ADP (automatic drawing production).

  • MDS-REPORT-DEFS - holds the pre-defined MDS reports available for the project.

  • MDS-REPORT-HEADINGS - holds the definition of a list of Alternative Report Headings that are applicable to the pre-defined reports.

Note: the last two files work in conjunction with each other.
