Partname Control, Create

AVEVA Marine has a facility to create partnames according to rules, set up by the customer. These rules are specified in a text file based on the TIL format. For further information about the concept of "partname" and "partname control", see Hull, Set-up and customization, General, Customer Control of Part Names.

The entry form of this function (and other forms, activated from it) can be used to create or update such a definition file and to compile an existing file so that a part name control object is established. If an input file is available it is compiled from the main form.

A number of additional forms can be used to establish/modify the input file that, on return to the main form, may be compiled to create the object.

The first wizard form is used to add/insert/delete a part name control rule with a given name.

The second wizard form is used to control the tags that identify a part as specific portside, starboard in/over CL in cases when such a tag should be part of the partname. Suggested default tags are filled in when the form is entered.

The third wizard form is used to control the tags that should be used if individual names should be assigned to the web and flange of built profiles (their names are supposed to be equal apart from this tag). Suggested default tags are filled in.

The fourth wizard form is used to define the constituents that should be used to establish the names (The available ones can be picked from a list and their meaning is described in the document referred to above).

When you work in this form first select the name of the rule set for which the name rules should be defined. Then pick the type of part and specify the name rules independently for each type. This is done by picking any number of pairs of "constituent" and "delimiter" that are added one-by-one (button "Add") until all constituents/ delimiters have been defined so that the partname is completely specified. You may also change the current pair (button "Change") or delete them (button "Delete"). Note that the delimiter may be empty, and the constituent may be of a type /EMPTY (thus resulting in no actual "pair").

The fifth wizard, finally, shows the file that is the result of your definition. If you are satisfied you may save it (button "Save") or you may step backwards to make modifications (button "Back"). Please note that pressing "Cancel" in any situation will erase what you have built-up so far.

Creation of the actual control object is done via the entry form.
