Gross and Net Tonnage values are calculated in accordance with the International Conference on Tonnage Measurement of Ships, 1969. In order to perform such calculations, you must select the Regulations - Tonnage Measurements icon and ensure that all input data is complete and current. The Input dialog allows you to select individual compartments, as defined in the initial input hull geometry model, and to specify whether they should be treated as enclosed, for cargo, or for both. Generally, the AVEVA Hull geometry model will not define the complete ship, that means, the superstructure and any other deckhouses will normally not be included. users are therefore also able to specify within this dialog the basic dimensions of those additional compartments that are not defined in the input geometry model, but which are required for tonnage calculations.
If the mainhull is selected as a complete single enclosed space, then individual compartments within the mainhull must not be selected as well, as this would result in double accounting. However, in this instance, care should be taken to ensure that the entire mainhull definition is actually an enclosed space. Clearly hatch covers result in creating enclosed spaces,
Some of the compartments that are defined in the hull geometry model, and that are enclosed, can be excluded from the tonnage calculations, (Regulation 2(5)), for example, machinery and workspaces. fuel and lub oil tanks, voids, These can be catered for by identifying such compartments as neither enclosed nor cargo in the input dialog.
The program totals the volumes of all of the compartments that are selected as being relevant to tonnage calculations. The coefficients K1, K2 and K3 are determined and are used to calculate gross and net tonnage values. The specified number of passengers will be reported and if the total number is less than 13 the following message will appear;
passengers not included in the tonnage calculations (less than 13).
