  • To create a Ceiling Fitting, the user must first select a Ceiling and a Ceiling Grid on the Ceiling Fitting Tasks window, and then select Create Fitting to display the Create Ceiling Fitting window.

The Create Ceiling Fitting window allows the user to select a Fitting type, choose a specification from the catalogue, set the attributes, and define the placement and position of the fitting.

Select a Fitting Specification

  1. The first thing the user needs to do is set which type of fitting is to be created by selecting an option from the Fitting Type drop-down list.

Changing the fitting type will also modify some of the sections on the window so that the appropriate information is entered.

  2. Once the fitting type is set, selecting Select Ceiling Fitting Specification displays the catalogue selection window, using the fitting type as a filter for the elements it displays.

  3. Once the user has selected the required catalogue item, clicking Select on the window will populate the Specification field on the Create Ceiling Fittings window.

Set Attributes

Some of the attributes available to set depend on the type of fitting the user is creating, Name and Description are always constant. None of these attributes are essential for creating the fitting.

Positioning the Fitting

There are two ways of positioning a Ceiling Fitting within a Ceiling Grid:

  • Relative to Grid Cell.

  • Relative to Grid Line.

Relative to Grid Cell

  1. Selecting the Relative to Grid Cell option in the Fitting Placement panel, displays the Cell ID combo box.

  2. Clicking Pick Position allows the user to graphically pick a CLNTIL element in the 3D view, and if the element is owned by the current grid the Cell ID field will be updated to reflect the currently selected tile.

  3. Checking the Replace Tile checkbox with remove the existing tile and replace it the selected fitting.

    Relative to Grid Line

    1. Selecting Relative to Grid Line in the Fitting Placement pane, displays the X and Y Line combo boxes, which list all of the grid line numbers in the X and Y directions accordingly.

    2. Clicking Pick Position allows the user to graphically pick a position in the 3D view, and the window will determine which intersection of grid lines is closest to that position, and will update the data on the window to reflect this selection.

The combo boxes are used to directly edit the position of the ceiling fitting, the fitting will be positioned at the intersection of the chosen grid lines.

      Position Offset

The Fitting Position panel allows the user to give an X and Y positional offset, for both Placement options.

      Graphical Aids

Every time the positional controls on the Create Ceiling Fitting window are updated, then the graphical aid marking where the fitting is to be created will be moved to match.

      Creating the New Fitting

      • Clicking Create Fitting at the bottom of the window will create a new CGRDLP or CGRDCP element, according to whether they are positioned according to grid lines or grid cells respectively.

A new Fitting element will be created underneath the owning CGRDLP/CGRDCP element.

Back to Fitting tasks displays the Ceiling Fitting Tasks window.
