The Launching dialog allows you to enter all the required data to perform launching calculations.

Note:
That the Dynamic Data section of the dialog only requires data if the Dynamic launching check box is selected.

The Basic Launching Parameters

Parameter

Units

Figure Notation see below

Length of fixed ways

meters/feet

LFW

Camber

meters/feet

C

Tangent of the chord of the ways

none

Tangent of the keel

none

Height of water at way ends

meters/feet

WH

Keel height above chord at AP

meters/feet

KH

Distance of AP from way ends

meters/feet

D2

Launch weight

tonnes/tons

LCG from AP

meters/feet

Travel interval

meters/feet

Length of sliding ways

meters/feet

LSW

Width of sliding ways

meters/feet

Fore poppet pivot point from AP

meters/feet

For dynamic launching, these further parameters must be entered

Parameter

Units

Limits

Available travel before rest

meters/feet

Length of fixed ways to 15000

Water resistance coefficient

none

0.000 to 0.015

Grease friction coefficient

none

0.000 to 0.06

Drag coefficient

none

0.300 to 1.000

Note:
The Drag coefficient is the coefficient of friction of the drag chains.

For the drag chains, the travel at which the drag chains start to take effect, Start(m) (units: meters/feet) and their Weight (units: tonnes or tons) are displayed in a list. To add new items, enter the required values in the entry fields and click Add.
