  1. Selecting Create > Door on the Select Opening window displays the Create Door window.

The Create Door window has a number of fields and options that are completed from top to bottom of the window.

  2. Populate the Name, Description, Function, Purpose and Number fields with appropriate values.

  3. Clicking Select Door Specification displays the Choose Opening Type window.

  4. Selecting the Filter selection on ROOM occupancy type checkbox, displays only the door specifications available for the current room in the Choose Opening Type window.

  5. Selecting any row will display the Door type.

  6. Once the required Door has been chosen, clicking Select closes the window and the Door specification is now shown on the Create DOOR window.

  7. Clicking Position allows the user to pick the CTWALL using Element and Cursor from the graphical control window.

Note: Positioning a door or window is a matter of selecting an area of wall and specifying a position relative to the nearest POINTR on the wall path. The graphics selection automatically selects the nearest POINTR and the zdistance is set along the wall path from this point.

The positional fields are now populated.

The field contents are adjusted to modify the vertical distance and the zdistance. The two lock toggles on the right of the U Distance and V Distance Fields are used to lock a value so that repositioning using the graphical position will only change the unlocked value.

The Justification option is used to select which side of the wall the door or window origin will be placed. By default, the origin of a door or window is placed on the face of a wall with the catalogue Z direction facing away from the wall surface.

The Wall Inset value is used to set the door position relative to the face of the wall. Changing this value changes how the door is positioned relative to the wall thickness and the door may be adjusted in or out of the wall as required.

Note: On some of the standard walls and floor application doors, the catalogue items are designed to be inset by 25mm from the door face and this is built into the catalogue as a property ISET. If this property is found, the application automatically uses it in positioning a door or window.

The Rotation Angle spin box is used to rotate the door or window about its origin parallel to the wall face. The door or window may be rotated clockwise or anticlockwise about its origin.

  8. Clicking Pick Second Wall to create opening allows the user to place a second door in a different wall.

Clicking Discard Changes cancels the changes and closes the Create DOOR window, returning the user to the Select Opening window.

  9. With the Create DOOR window fully populated with values, clicking Create opening creates a Door.

The Door will appear in the 3D View and the Create DOOR window will switch to edit mode so that the user can change values if required.

  10. Clicking Back to main opening tasks returns the user to the Select Opening window.

Note: To be able to pick a door or window with the cursor, make sure Navigate is active.

  11. Graphically picking the Door will highlight the Door as shown below.

In addition to the ISET properties, some doors and windows in the sample catalogue have been built to show the opening graphically.

  12. To set these properties, select Modify > Properties from the main menu.

The Modify Properties window displays. An opening angle is set in the Open Angle field and Apply is clicked.

Here the Open angle has been changed from 0 (the default) to 35 degrees.

The Modify Opening window allows the user to make changes to the door attributes.

Note: The Create Opening option has changed to Accept Changes.

  13. Select the Accept Changes label to accept the changes made and commit them to the database. Discard Changes will discard any changes made as a result of modifying the door such as rotation and position. It will not reverse a change in properties as described above as this is a separate operation.

  14. The Back to main opening tasks option displays the Select Opening window.
