MDS12 Upgrade - LOG File

  • Last UpdatedJan 09, 2026
  • 1 minute read
  • The MDS12 upgrade utility will generate its own LOG file detailing the actions performed during the MDS12 upgrade.

  • The LOG file will be created and located in the MDS12-DEFAULTS directory found in the project information directory defined in the evar %<project code>INFO%, and found in the normal project directory structure, for example, for a project code of TWD the information directory would be located in …/<pdms project directory>/twd/twdinfo/MDS12-DEFAULTS. If the MDS12-DEFAULTS directory does not exist, it will automatically be created along with the LOG file

  • If the project information directory defined in the project evar %<project code>INFO%, does not exist the LOG file will automatically be created in the directory %PDMSUSER%/MDS12-DEFAULTS. If the MDS12-DEFAULTS directory does not exist, it will automatically be created along with the LOG file

  • The LOG file for a project code of TWD will typically be named as shown here:

    %TWDINFO%/MDS12-DEFAULTS\MDS-DEFAULTS-CONVERSION-to-CATA-DB-31Jan2006-154739.pmllog

    or:

    %PDMSUSER%/MDS12-DEFAULTS\MDS-DEFAULTS-CONVERSION-to-CATA-DB-31Jan2006-154739.pmllog

Important Note: The date and time the MDS12 upgrade commenced will always be appended to the name of the LOG file.

  • For Reference ONLY - A copy of a typical example of a MDS12 Upgrade LOG file can be found in the MDS12 release directory that means:

    …/AVEVA/mds12dev/MDS12-Upgrade-Example-LOG-file/ MDS-DEFAULTS-CONVERSION-to-CATA-DB-31Jan2006-154739.pmllog
