Figure 3:23. 3D Construction Dialog - Project/Fair page.

The projection and fairing of the Plines is achieved through the 3D Construction dialog.

Project Plines

  1. Select the Project/Fair page on the 3D Construction dialog.

In our case, ensure Pline is the selected Curve Type, which will be the type of the 3D curve that is saved. The Type pulldown list specifies the type of curve that will be projected into the chosen views. For our case this again will be Pline. Once selected, a list of Plines will be displayed, and the Pline created earlier by intersection can be selected from the list.

  2. As a shortcut to this stage, select the Pline in the Curve Tree, click the Right Mouse button and select the 3D Fair button.

  3. Select the two views from the bottom panel, under View.

By default the views selected for projection are Section, Waterline. No names are specified by the user for the resulting Clines, as these are determined by the system appending the initial letter of the projection view, that means, S, W or B to the 3D curve name.

  4. Enter the Name of the curve to be projected

This may be an existing curve name with a "M" extension added to indicate that this curve will be a merged curve.

  5. Select the Create button.

  6. If the Keep toggle box has been selected then the clines created from the projected Pline will be saved and given the name of the 3D curve with the initial letter of the projection view appended.
