Name Changes

In Design Reuse there is a possibility for user to control name changes to be carried out on copied data. Depending on the extension of user configuration the name changes can be managed with more or less automatic adjustment according to target project. The principal for name changes is that the data definitions kept in Transfer Set are manipulated at export such that names are replaced by rename functions with current name as mandatory argument to the rename function. At import when a Transfer Item is about to re-generate design data, rename functions are executed with purpose to replace the original name with a name adjusted to the new context. The flexibility in configuration of name changes is achieved through:

• Renaming by user defined as PML functions.

• Relation between type of design data (element type) and rename function is set up by user.

• Possible to specify additional number of arguments (beside the mandatory name) based on attributes and expressions.

• Option to rename subordinate elements
