Propeller Characteristics

The Powering Module enables users to determine the likely open water performance of a potentially suitable propeller using standard series data. There are currently two series provided; the Wageningen B-Series and the Gawn-Burrill Series. Additional performance corrections are also provided for controllable pitch and noise reduced propellers using open water efficiency correction factors.

If you wish to apply a Reynold's Number correction to the propeller performance, there is the option of using either the 1978 ITTC Performance Prediction Method or the Oosterveld and Oossanen approach.

The propeller optimization process checks the design against cavitation by limiting the blade area ratio according to the Burrill 5% cavitation line.
