The application allows the user to create several different types of element, these are:

Electrical Fittings

items such as electrical sockets, switches

Information Fittings

items such as signage.

HVAC Fittings

items such as vents.

Fire Protection Fittings

items such as fire detection/fighting equipment.

Furniture

items such as tables, chairs, beds

Fixtures

items such as toilets, basins

Managed Hole

items such as a hull panel or wall plate.

Fittings

These elements are similar to furniture; however, these are classed as non-fixed items within the Room Design hierarchy (for example, plug sockets), and will generally have connections to other disciplines for example piping, cable. In general these components will be brought-in and therefore, should be defined as catalogue components.

Fixtures

These elements are similar to furniture; however, these are classed as fixed items within the Room Design hierarchy (for example, a toilet or a basin), and will generally have connections to other disciplines. In general these components will be brought-in and therefore, should be defined as catalogue components.

Furniture

These elements are the low level generic elements used to define the basic non-fixed items within the Room Design hierarchy. In general these components will be brought-in and therefore, should be defined as catalogue components.

Creation of an element begins when an item type is selected that the user wishes to create (for example Electrical). The window will change to show the creation panel as below.

Note: The window layout depends upon whether the user is creating an item in a Room or CTWALL type of storage area.

The user can update any of the provided attribute fields to allow identification of the component. The attribute fields are divided into two sections:

Default attributes

Default attributes are attributes such as name that are common to all created furniture, fittings and fixtures.

The user must enter values in the appropriate fields and spin boxes.

Type specific attributes

Type specific attributes are attributes that are specific to the type of element being created. For instance an electrical fitting has definable attributes such as electrical rating and operating temperature whereas a furniture item would not have this. The list of available type specific attributes is updated dynamically depending upon which item type the user has chosen to create or modify.
