Creation of Merged compartments

To create a merged compartment then follow the steps below.

1. Set the dialog mode to Create and select the Merged page. In the Creation Method panel, select the option Predefined.

2. Now enter relevant values, for the compartment to be created, into the edit fields, ID (no more than 8 characters and must not contain any spaces), Title (long description), and Permeabilities. Two permeabilities can be set, Structural (to take account of structural permeability, for 2% structural allowance set permeability to 98) and Damage (used in damage calculations).

   Note:
   A Category can be selected from the defined set, see Compartment Categories.

3. Now populate the lists of Positive and Negative component compartments, that constitute the required definition for the merged compartment. This is done by either:

   • using the list’s pop-up menu to select GET to interactively pick a series of compartments (click the spacebar to finish the picking of elements)

   • or alternatively select all the required elements in the Full View or Compartment View tree and drag them (while holding the Left Mouse button down) and dropping them (release the Left Mouse button) into the list.

4. Once the definition is complete then click the Apply button.

   The other creation method available is Interactive, which still requires step 2 but then you must interactively pick the required compartments (use the SHIFT key when picking a Negative compartment). for further information see Merged Page.
