Appendage Creation

Appendages can be created from 3D primitives, 2D primitives or a combination of both. It is possible to create standard appendages and store them as either DM datastores or SAT files which are then combined with the existing model. Parametric appendages can be created using the macro facilities.
Appendages will normally be created at the global origin ( 0, 0, 0) and then translated and/or rotated to the required position. This is the best approach to use, as the 3D primitives are always created at the global origin and the Translation function generally acts about the global origin.
To illustrate the techniques used in creating appendages, two examples will be given. The first is a thruster tube with fairing plate and the second a simplified rudder. The examples list the commands used and give a basic description. If the user wishes to try the examples, the commands can be typed on-line or the basic sequence can be followed and the commands issued via the dialogs.
