The actual setting of position numbers is performed in a run of autopos. In a normal situation both the parts to be treated (= the scope) and the general conditions for the session are defined via the function Planar, Pos No of Hull Planar Modelling (see Hull, Planar Modelling, Interactive Planar Hull Modelling Functions, Model Generation and View Functions, Pos No).

The actual run is also normally activated via this function, resulting in a separate process. The autopos program reads input from a file in a language, based on the general TIL format. This input files is created as a result of the activities in the Posno function. Thus, the user need normally not bother about the details of this input file. However, the file and its format is described in detail below.
