User Des Pars Tab

This tab lists the design parameters that the MDS designer can modify during the creation or subsequent modification of a support. The example screenshot shows component AT01, bore size 20mm. The designer would only be allowed to modify two of the design parameters for AT01:

  • Design Parameter 2 - support length, which has minimum and maximum values of 100mm and 350mm

  • Design Parameter 5 - support height, which has minimum and maximum values of 50mm and 180mm

When the designer modifies these values using the MDS application, the minimum and maximum values are checked and a warning message is displayed if any values are outside their allowable ranges. The administrators must ensure suitable minimum and maximum values are entered for the design parameters.

In some situations if may be necessary to restrict a user-editable parameter to a single value. For example, for AT01 with 20mm bore, we may wish to fix the shoe height at 100mm to match the component available in a given supplier catalogue. In this case the minimum and maximum values are both set to 100.
