Hull and Outfitting

Improved Local Language – Unicode Encoding

A major internal change at AVEVA Hull and Outfitting 12.1 is that the system uses the Unicode standard for text storage and manipulation, rather than the various specific and somewhat proprietary methods that are used in AVEVA Hull and Outfitting 12.0 and earlier releases. This standard covers all common world languages – and special characters – and will make it much easier to provide support for additional character sets in the future. It makes text handling more robust and makes it much easier to relax some of the previous restrictions, particularly to the use of Asian 16-bit character sets. For example, these may now be viewed in the 3D views. Inputs and outputs may be in Unicode or local standards.
