Sign Conventions

The following is a summary of the default sign conventions that apply in Calc.
Distances are measured as follows:

x-axis: Positive forward of the origin.

y-axis: Positive to starboard from the centreline.

z-axis: Positive from the baseline upwards.
The origin is generally situated at the Aft Perpendicular, on the centreline and baseline. However this will depend on how the vessel was modelled.
Heel angles are positive to starboard, and trim by the head is positive.
