Global Daemon

The Global daemon (sometimes referred to as the Admin daemon) is supplied with the Global product, in the default install folder.

During installation the user can choose between an RPC or WCF version of Global. RPC is part of the standard Windows software, and no additional software has to be installed. The WCF version has some dependencies and these are described in the Global WCF Configuration Guide. The information contained in this guide applies equally to both RPC and WCF versions of the Global daemon.

Installing the Global daemon is described in the Global Installation Guide, configuring and starting the daemon is described in the Global User Guide.

There must be one Global daemon running for each Project at a Location.

Note: The user must plan which protocol to use before implementing a Global project, including firewall and security considerations.

Important: An RPC Global daemon cannot detect whether a WCF Global daemon is already running for that project.
