Splitting of Built Profiles

The production information for profiles is normally presented in manufacturing lists and in sketches. Built profiles (web and flange welded together at the shipyard) and flat bars are possible to handle differently. With this option the web part of the profile can be converted into a plate part and the flange can be converted into either a plate part or a new profile part.

The option is an integrated part of the software for splitting of hull parts and a fully automatic process. customization and control is done via a customer written control file, specific to this option. The splitting can be applied for both profiles from the internal structure and profiles related to the shell structure. The following criteria can be used to control which profiles to handle:

• profile type

• profile dimension

• profile length

• bevel definition

• material quality.
