Water Depth
If a merchant vessel has been selected, then you can include shallow water corrections.
|
Deep Water |
Assumes no shallow water correction |
|
Shallow Water |
Applies a shallow water correction based on the water depth entered (a limit of 1.1*draught is applied) |
|
Depth |
Water depth (from the calm water line) |
Approach Speed
A single Approach Speed must be entered for all manoeuvring calculations.
The following limits are applicable to the approach speed:
|
• |
Merchant Vessel |
18 knots |
|
• |
Naval Vessel |
25 knots |
These limits should be adhered to, since the data upon which the formulae are based also had these limits. However, if you supply their own hydrodynamic derivatives, then the manoeuvring equations may be used for any approach speed.
