Text Boxes

Text boxes are the areas where you can type in alphanumeric data such as names or dimensions. A text box will usually have a label to tell you what to enter.

When you first open a form which contains text boxes, the first text-box on the form is current and a text editing cursor (a vertical bar) is displayed in the box. A text-box often contains a default entry (such as ‘unset’) when first displayed. Some text boxes accept only text or only numeric data, and entries with the wrong type of data are not accepted.

To enter data into a text box

  1. Click in the box to insert the text editing cursor.

  2. Type in the required data, editing any existing entry as necessary. (You may need to delete the existing entry first.)

  3. When you have finished, confirm the entry by pressing the Enter (or Return) key. Any text box with an unconfirmed setting is highlighted by a yellow background.
