Before the user can use this method, the design must include a pipe (or piping component) which passes through a platform and both the pipe and the platform must be shown in the 3D view.

  1. Select Create > Floor Penetration > shape > ID cursor, where shape is Circular or Square, to display a floor penetration creation window similar to this:

  2. Enter the minimum Clearance distance required between the pipe or piping component and the sides of the penetration.

  3. Set the Floor Type option button to show the shape of the platform (Rectangular or Circular) into which the penetration will be inserted. (This information is needed to make sure that the penetration creation calculations are correctly executed.)

  4. Click Apply.

The user is prompted to ‘Identify floorplate’.

  5. Using the cursor, pick the floorplate into which the penetration is to be inserted.

The user is prompted to ‘Identify penetrating Item’.

  6. Use the cursor to pick the pipe or piping component around which the penetration is to be created.
