This tree shows all objects contained in the project, grouping them by type. The tree can be used to view and set various attributes of each object. The layer, colour, display state and Design status (used for Release to AVEVA E3D Structural Design and AVEVA Hull Design) are shown for each individual object.
Making a selection in the tree is simply made by clicking an object with the cursor. Extended selections can be achieved using the SHIFT and CTRL keys.
If an individual object is selected, then the attributes displayed in the tree can
be edited. Click on the name and the name will be highlighted ready for editing. Similarly
for the layer, click on the value and it will be highlighted for editing. To edit
the colour, click on the colour cell and a standard colour selection dialog will appear
to allow a new colour to be picked. To change the display status of an object simply
click on the light bulb image; switching between the two states,
representing on and
representing off.
The tree is the source for drag and drop operations. Select the required elements
and then while holding down the Left Mouse button drag the elements to the appropriate drop zone, either a list or button (displaying
the water drop,
) and release the Left Mouse button. Note that while dragging, the cursor will become a no entry sign,
, unless over an appropriate drop target, in which case it will revert to the normal
pointer.
A pop-up menu allows various operations to be performed on the selected objects. The available options are listed below:
FLASH |
Highlights the selected objects in the current graphics view. |
DELETE |
Deletes the selected objects (the DELETE key also performs this action). |
RENAME |
Highlights the name in the tree of the selected item ready for editing. |
PROPERTIES... |
Calculates relevant data (such as volume, area, length ) for the selected objects and displays it in the Output Window. |
MODIFY LAYERS... |
Allows the User to move all the selected objects to the layer entered in the Layer dialog. |
DISPLAY |
This gives the following options: |
TOGGLE |
Allows the use to toggle the current display setting for all the selected objects. |
ON |
Allows the User to set the current display status for all the selected objects to on. |
OFF |
Allows the User to set the current display status for all the selected objects to off. |
SWAP |
For a selected group element, it allows the User to quickly change between the state where the group (and not it’s components) is on or the state where the individual components (and not the group) are on. |
SET COLOUR... |
Allows the use to set the colour of all the selected objects to that chosen in the standard colour selection dialog that appears. |

This gives the following options: |
TOGGLE |
Toggle the current Design status (used for Release to Structural Design and Hull) for all the selected objects. |
ON |
Set the Design status (used for Release to Structural Design and Hull) for all the selected objects to on. |
OFF |
Set the Design status (used for Release to Structural Design and Hull) for all the selected objects to off. |
EDIT... |
Depending on the current selection, this enables access to either the Envelope Definition, Primitive Definition, Groups & Instances Editor, Internal Surface Editor or Compartment Editor dialog, allowing the User to modify the particular object's (or objects') definition. When multiple object types are selected, the object type of the first item in the selection is used to determine the dialog to be opened. |
FACETING... |
Brings up the Faceting Parameters dialog to allow the User to set individual faceting parameters for the selected objects. |

MATERIAL... |
Brings up the Materials dialog to allow the User to set the material settings for patches. |
SET AS ENVELOPE |
Used to change the selected patch into the Barehull for an envelope definition. |
ASSIGN TO ENVELOPE |
Options given here equals the defined envelopes. |
